Bitdefender and Avira both provide top-of-the-line malware detection rates, reliable real-time protection, and reliable ransomware protection. Both are easy to use so even those new to cybersecurity can begin in the blink of an eye. Additionally, both provide numerous additional features like the VPN and file shredder, additional privacy protections and one-click optimization.
Avira and Bitdefender have both received high scores from independent testing labs. However, in this particular round I’d like to give the advantage to Bitdefender because of its superior performance in the AV-Comparatives’ Performance Test, which measures how much impact security software has on a computer’s performance. Bitdefender’s low impact score means it runs in the background without significantly slowing down your computer -unlike some of its competitors.
The AV-Comparatives test measures the impact of each product on system performance in the course of routine computer activities such as visiting websites, downloading and copying files. Bitdefender was the only contender to pass the test with a perfect score while Avira was just a few points behind.
Both companies offer a decent level of customer support. Avira has a helpful knowledge base and YouTube channel, while Bitdefender offers a comprehensive support hub with a telephone line, live chat, email support, and videos that show how to use the service. The support hub is organized by product, so you can find the help you need.
